Great news guys!!!
Crytek recently announced that they will release a Crysis 2 Editor early this summer, which means that people will be able to make new, custom content to the game and hopefully even to the multiplayer.
So perhaps the DLC button ingame will host various custom maps made by the community?
Some if not even more interesting news is that Crytek will release their whole CryENGINE 3 to the public this autumn, everyone will be able to get a license for free, so that will open up possibilities for larger modding groups to make their own mods or even games with the CryENGINE 3!
On top of this they will release documentation for us to get the knowledge of how the tools work and make even better content.
A quote from Cevat Yerli's personal message to the modding comunity:
Our next release will be the Crysis 2 Editor, this is for those of you who want to create content for Crysis 2. In August 2011, we will launch our Free CryENGINE SDK for all of you who want to create totally new content on CryENGINE 3. If you just want to make fun, free projects, you can do that free of charge. If you want to try and commercialize your game, we'll be here to help you with that.
I truly value the contribution you have all made to our company and I hope we can continue giving back to you in future.
